Stonewall was a Riot and Black Lives Matter

Happy Pride to everyone except people who don’t think Black Lives Matter.

Stonewall was a fucking riot led by trans women of color. Black trans and queer lives matter and if you consider yourself an LGBTQ+ ally, you must also support the collective liberation of all oppressed people, which absolutely includes Black, Indigenous, and People of Color who are also LGBTQ+.

Usually, during this colorful month in which we commemorate the event, but often overlook the people who made it happen, I’d be posting some shit about being inclusive in the wedding industry or whatever, and I will, but right now I just cannot. I cannot sit idly by behind my keyboard and write as though what is happening right now isn’t happening and hasn’t already been happening forever.

I hear the call for white people not just to speak out, but to take action. As a business, I’m acting with my profits. This month, my giving back program will support the Marsha P. Johnson Institute, in honor of her courage to fight back against police brutality at Stonewall.

And I’m asking you to go give whatever dollars you can spare to any of these organizations led by Black, LGBTQ+ people:
